Sicilia

The Aeolian Islands, also called Lipari Islands, are an archipelago of Italy belonging to the Aeolian arch, in Sicily. Administratively included in the province of Messina, the archipelago is an increasingly popular tourist destination: the islands, in fact, attract up to 600,000 annual visitors. The archipelago is made up of the islands of Lipari, Panarea, Vulcano, Salina, Alicudi and Filicudi

Taormina

Taormina is a hill town on the east coast of Sicily. It is located near Mount Etna, an active volcano with paths that reach the top. The city is known for the Ancient Theater of Taormina, an ancient Greco-Roman theater still in operation today. Near the theater, the cliffs that descend to the sea form coves with sandy beaches. A narrow strip of sand connects to the tiny Isola Bella, which is a nature reserve.

Palermo 

Palermo is the capital of Sicily. The 12th century Cathedral of Palermo houses royal tombs, while the imposing neoclassical Massimo Theater is famous for its opera performances. Also in the center are the Palazzo dei Normanni, a royal palace dating back to the 9th century, and the Palatine Chapel, with Byzantine mosaics. The crowded markets include the central street market Ballarò and Vucciria, near the port.

Agrigento 

Agrigento is a hill town on the southwestern coast of Sicily. It is known for the ruins of the ancient city of Akragas and the Valley of the Temples, a vast archaeological site with well-preserved Greek temples. On the outskirts of the modern city there is the Regional Archaeological Museum of Agrigento which houses artifacts and a telamon (giant male statue). To the west, there is the Scala dei Turchi, an unusual white cliff with steps that overlooks sandy beaches.

Selinunte 

Selinunte was an ancient Greek city located on the southwestern coast of Sicily; today it is the largest archaeological park in Europe. The ruins of the city are located on the territory of the municipality of Castelvetrano, in the southern part of the province of Trapani
