Liguria is squeezed between the sea and the mountain ranges of the Alps and the Apennines: as a result, the region could be reduced to two coastal areas, east and west of Genoa: the Riviera di Ponente and the Riviera di Levante.
Liguria is a region of great tourist attraction for its anthropic and natural beauties, among which - in the west - the Riviera dei Fiori and - in the east - Portofino, the Cinque Terre and Porto Venere stand out.
It is possible to arrive by private plane in Torino and organize a transfer by helicopter to the main areas of interest:
Sanremo
PLocated along the Riviera dei Fiori, it is a well-known tourist resort, renowned for the cultivation of flowers (celebrated every year with the flowery Sanremo in Fiore course), hence the name of the City of Flowers. It also hosts the arrival of the Milan-Sanremo cycling race (one of the most important cycling classics), the Italian Song Festival, the Tenco Prize, the motoring rally, the Italian stage of the European Poker Tour, and is home to the Casino (one of the four present in Italy).
Portofino
Portofino is a fishing village on the Ligurian Riviera south-east of Genoa. Pastel-colored houses, exclusive boutiques and restaurants with fish specialties overlook the cobbled Piazzetta overlooking the harbor, where megayachts are moored. A path connects the Piazzetta to Castello Brown, a sixteenth-century fortress with an adjoining museum inside which art exhibitions are set up and which offers panoramas of the town and the Ligurian Sea. It is one of the most renowned Italian resorts for luxury tourism.
Le Cinque Terre
The Cinque Terre are ancient fishing villages located along the rugged Italian coast. Each of these villages is characterized by colorful houses and vineyards clinging to the steep terraces created on the coast. The ports are crowded with fishing boats and in the typical trattorias it is possible to try seafood specialties, as well as the famous Ligurian seasoning: pesto. The Sentiero Azzurro, a hiking path that stretches along the coast, connects the Cinque Terre to each other and offers splendid views of the sea.
